The John Deere is a simple fishing fly pattern that uses chenille, a jig fly hook, and a marabou plume. The hook size is small – size 10 thru 14, and the plume can be cut to different lengths to match the “bite”. Moreover, the John Deer Tractor color scheme of green and yellow is suggested. We first fished the John Deere one weekend trout fishing on the Blue River in Oklahoma! Recent rains made it tough Saturday with trout caught mainly using bait. We tried various fishing flies, Power Worms, Mouse Tails, and even Salmon Eggs, but it was a strike out.
